If you’ve ever taken a drive along any of the historic routes of Westchester county you have no doubt seen some interesting roadside attractions. We have everything from historic markers informing you how far to NYC, to a mysterious Balanced Rock (or two if you count Pound Ridge Nurseries stone altar) to a monument to an old elephant. Every twist and turn along routes 22, 100, 172, 9A will take you somewhere interesting which is how we found our way to Rabbi Ilan Ashkenazi and his incredible art.
Rabbi Ilan Ashkenazi is a well-known scholar and artist who calls home a hidden in plain sight gallery and workspace which is a testament to spirituality and form. His various sculptures, photography, illustration, and calligraphy works saturate the air of the unassuming former church in Pound Ridge on the border of Cross River (29 Cross River Rd, Pound Ridge NY 10576).
