North Salem was settled in 1731. It is located 50 miles north of New York City in Westchester County. North Salem consists of 4 unincorporated townships: North Salem, Purdys, Croton Falls and Salem Center, and is one of the few rural towns in Westchester. Open land and horse farms are common characteristics of the area. Tucked away amongst these wide-open spaces are local businesses, museums, restaurants, and historic sites.
